You can head to Barton Orchards or Fishkill Farms to pick the last of the apples and pumpkins and other farm produce, or you can do what we all do more and more of every day — just order it online. I just heard about an online CSA now operating in Brooklyn that allows you to order tomatoes and apples as well as pears, berries, eggs, meats, cheeses, milk, breads, candies and a vast array of farm produce and locally-made food products — and then delivers it for free to your home. Remarkable.
Good Eggs allows you to order farm foods in whatever quantity you like, and then delivers them to your door or to a pickup location. You have to order two days in advance.
So for instance right now they’ve got Vermont rasberries for $2.99 a pint, and 0rganic heirloom tomatoes from Norwich Meadow Farm for $5.25/pound bag. That’s pretty awesome.
It’s not long from now when we’ll order everything online, perhaps.
