The first Sephora makeup store in Brooklyn is opening on Halloween at Court and Joralemon streets. The 7,000-square-foot shop is the first tenant in the Brooklyn Municipal Building, which formerly housed city offices but will now ask retailers to pay rents around $25,000 per month, according to The Brooklyn Eagle.
It’s just the latest national chain to put it’s sights on brownstone and downtown Brooklyn — J Crew is expected to open soon in the space at the corner of Court and Pacific, formerly occupied by Pacific Green, Lululemon yoga clothing shop opened on Smith and, of course, a Whole Foods is under construction on Third Street and Third Place in the Gowanus.
We were mom-and-pop, mostly Italian-owned shops just a decade ago, but the changes are happening fast.
