Elderly Boerumite to Make 11,700% Profit on Townhouse

By Lisa M. Collins

As we all know, lots of old-timers sold their homes to newcomers in the 80s and 90s and moved out, missing the real estate boom. But not 89-year-old Mildred Furiya, who put her Boerum Hill townhouse on the market recently for $1.895 million. She bought the property at 299 State Street for $16,000 in 1967.

The New York Post (a Murdoch property, along with the Brooklyn Paper) first had the story. The Post says Furiya moved her from Greenwich Village with her husband and two daughters.
