The hand wringing wore a groove in some hands but there is light in our tunnel: NYU-Langone has taken over the emergency room at Long Island College Hospital at Henry and Amity streets, and opened for business on Halloween, according to the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.
NYU-Langone is operating an around-the-clock emergency room from LICH’s former ER, though it has been refurbished. According to the Eagle, a brand new, four-story larger medical facility with an ER will open by 2018. The new facility will be dubbed NYU Langone-Cobble Hill.
Super exciting news.
Somehow it did seem impossible that an area with some of the most expensive real estate in New York City would go long without a state-of-the-art ER.Â
Less exciting is that the rest of what was 156-year-old LICH will become condominiums … as our immigration continues…
