Note from editor: My daughter has been attending French music classes once weekly at Language and Laughter for the past year. It’s fantastic. The teacher is amazing, a talented singer, musician and instructor, and runs a smooth schedule of singing, dancing, playing, games and fun in French. The school is clean and well-organized, and clearly, all teachers are trained professionals. There is an obvious emphasis on art, music, theater, exploration and playing. I wholeheartedly recommend Language and Laughter, even if you are English-only at home, as we are–Lisa

The Mini-Maternelle French Immersion Pre-K program: The Mini-Maternelle program is an exciting new way for Brooklyn’s parents to provide their children with the benefits of a foreign language in a nurturing and supportive environment. Our education integrates the arts, humanities and sciences in a manner that actively supports the individual and social developmental needs of each child. Through the well-known power of educational tools such as the use of mime, storytelling and poetry and song, our educators awaken in the children a life-long love of learning, empathy towards others and creative thinking.
Our well-trained, highly dedicated teachers work to build on each student’s unique strengths, interests and learning style while taking into account his or her needs and levels in terms of intellectual, social, emotional and physical growth.
Hands-on exploration is especially favored, encouraging children to develop their observational skills by doing many different types of activities. Classroom projects are designed to stimulate the children to search for answers to questions in a variety of ways and through a variety of mediums. These activities promote the use of the five senses, kinetic movement, spatial refinement, small/large motor skill coordination, and the acquisition and understanding of concrete knowledge that leads to abstractive thought processes later on.
