Man v. Food’s Adam Richman Picks Lucali

By Lisa M. Collins

MSNBC today featured Adam Richman, a Brooklyn native and host of the Travel Channel’s “Man v. Food,” as Richman shared advice for becoming a savvy food traveller. Richman is promoting his new book, “America the Edible,” which chronicles his eating adventures across the country. In the book, Richman says food travelers must visit Brooklyn, and they must eat pizza here. Here are his picks for, “Great Pizza Places in Brooklyn That Aren’t Too Trendy Yet”:

1. Pino’s Las Forchetta – Park Slope

2. Franny‘s – Prospect Heights

3. Lucali – Carroll Gardens

4. Totonno’s – Coney Island

5. L & B Spumoni Gardens – Gravesend

I’m sorry, I’ve been to Pino’s, and while it is very good pizza, it seems just wrong to place it above Lucali and Franny’s. Lucali and Franny’s are restaurants that create a sort of other-worldly experience for pizza lovers.

What are your top picks for best Brooklyn pizza? I think we should have a voting contest.
