Shake Shack Heads to Brooklyn

By Lisa M. Collins

Danny Meyer is opening one of his beloved Shake Shacks in downtown Brooklyn, on the Fulton Mall.

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz announced the news today. Shake Shack currently has three locations in Manhattan including Madison Square Park, where inevitably there is a 45-minute-long wait for one of Meyer’s legendary burgers. You wait to order the burger, then you wait for the shack to prepare it. It’s anti-fast food. The Shake Shack is also known for its frozen custard and hot dogs.

Markowitz said the new Shake Shack, part of an expanding chain, will rest, “right in the heart of our new 24/7 live-work city center and its diverse retail, new hotels and expanding arts and cultural corridor. Soon, you will be able to walk the “beefed up” Fulton Mall and get a ShackBurger, do some shopping and finish off with a cheesecake from Junior’s—plus everything in between.”
