Mediabistro’s FishbowlNY blog is reporting about a union-management battle underway at The New York Times. The story says the union will spend $1 million to campaign against a new contract proposed for New York Times writers and editors that the union says will intensify a “brain drain” underway for years at the paper.
It’s a sad day for journalists and for the Times. The current contract is up at the end of March, and we’ll know much more by then. Let’s hope the parties can figure out a way to maintain quality — and jobs — in these rough economic times.
