In the middle, Allegrino Sale, owner of Good Food grocery store on Court Street, an Italian-American staple in Carroll Gardens, and purveyor of high-quality fresh meats. Sale is also the president of the Van Westerhout Cittadini Molesi Social Club at Court and Fourth Place.
As reported first in the Carroll Gardens Patch, Good Food grocery store, on Court between 3rd Place and 4th Place, is closing by the end of the month after a bank made an attractive offer to take over the space occupied by the 34-year-old grocery store.
Good Food was a neighborhood staple, selling high quality and inexpensive fresh meat and sausage, as well as cheeses and a full course of regular groceries and household products, all at great prices. Owners Mike and Allegrino Sale, brothers, are immigrants from Mola di Bari, Italy, and Allegrino is the president of the Van Westerhout Cittadini Molesi Social Club on Court at Fourth Place, a social hangout for immigrants from Mola.
Make sure to go in to Good Foods by the end of April and buy some fantastic meat and handmade sausage at unbeatable prices, or snatch up some Italian cookies and crackers. Make sure to thank the Sales for helping to make Carroll Gardens such a great place to live, and to shop for food.
