At noon on Monday, the Court Street Merchant’s Association will lay a wreath at the Carroll Park War Memorial in remembrance of veterans who died in combat in World War 1.
The 18-foot pink granite monument is mounted front and back with bronze bas-reliefs of soldiers and sailors, crafted by Brooklyn-born sculptor Eugene H. Morahan (1869-1949). A local committee commissioned the monument at a cost of $9,000. It was dedicated in 1921.
