Photographer Joshua Kristal was out probing around the Gowanus Canal and found this little oasis—an elevated, quiet space for reflection above an old oil refinery, covered with greenery, weeds and even some flowers. Kind of the like the old High Line, in Chelsea, before it was turned into a fabulous park, except in true Gowanus style, existing over what’s probably a toxic little plot of land where trucks used to fill up with oil.
We thought we’d keep the exact location a mystery… unless you’ve been there. Let us know.
How awesome would it be for us to have a High Line park, overlooking Carroll Gardens, the Gowanus Canal and the F subway line, right here in our own backyard?
