Times Does Gowanus

By Lisa M. Collins

So, is the Gowanus gentrifying or not? What appears to be happening is the nice organic kind of development we like to see, as in, artists and designers and performance spaces and galleries and bars moving in to buildings that were pretty much vacant. Over there now we’ve got Brooklyn Boulders climbing gym, Littlefield performance space, of course Bell House music venue/bar, and a plethora of commercial art, music and design studios.

The New York Times this weekend takes a long look at the somewhat positive impact the U.S. EPA designation of the Gowanus as a Superfund cleanup site has had. Check it out.
