“My Korean Deli” : Boerum Hill

By Lisa M. Collins

Check out “My Korean Deli,” by Ben Ryder Howe. While writing the book Howe was working on the Upper East Side, as an editor at The Paris Review, for George Plimpton, and nights at the bodega he owned with his wife in Boerum Hill.

The tale deals with the hardships of running a bodega and the cultural clashes between Howe and his wife’s Korean immigrant parents, who put the highest premium on hard work.

Critics loved My Korean Deli: Risking It All for a Convenience Store, including this review in the Sunday Times.
