Take a walk through the Gowanus area. Despite the polluted Gowanus Canal, the area is buzzing with a new energy. Galleries are popping up right and left, and bars, and places to see live music.
The performance space, Littlefield, on Degraw, and The Rock Shop, on 4th Ave. near President, have been cropping up with lots of good shows lately (including comedy every Monday at Littlefield featuring SNL writers and etc.).
Just last week New York Magazine dubbed the Gowanus area “Superfund South,” and ranked it No. 6 on a list of city “micro-neighborhoods” that are the next hot spot. No. 1 was the area around the High Line, because the park will soon double in size.
We are fully expecting a packed calendar of creative activities down around the Gowanus area this summer. Stay posted.
