Mon., April 11, 8 p.m.: Hot Tub With Kurt and Kristen at Littlefield, with Jay Pharoah, Bobby Tisdale, Kara Klenk, Mo Welch. After a 3-year hiatus, Hot Tub is back. Kristen Schaal (Flight of the Conchords) and Kurt Braunohler (Nothing you know) host this magical evening of comedy, music, and other weird stuff. Come see the newest comedians in the city.
Jay Pharoah is a comedian and impressionist, and currently a featured player on Saturday Night Live. Developing his comedy skills at a young age and training in local comedy clubs, Pharoah has toured the UK, the US, and Montreal, and participated in the sketch comedy series, “Charlie Murphy’s Crash Comedy.” Pharoah previously performed stand-up on BET’s “One Mic Stand” and was the star of the 2010 BET Awards short, “The Package.”
Bobby Tisdale is a writer and comedian who has been a staple of the New York comedy scene for years. Along with Eugene Mirman, Bobby was the co-host of the wildly popular weekly show Invite Them Up in the East Village, which was the recipient of a Nightlife Award, and was recorded for a CD that was released on Comedy Central Records. He is currently a writer for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and runs an invite-only comedy show show in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Kara Klenk is a stand up comic, improviser, and actor based in New York City. She has appeared on SpikeTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, The TVGuide Network, and Nick-at-Nite. She performs in clubs all over New York City, and has appeared on Comedysmack.com as well as on Comedy Central’s Atom.com. Kara was a semi-finalist in the 2009 New York Comedy Contest, was selected for Time Out New York’s Joke of the Week, and was nominated for Joke of the Year. She also produces and hosts a long-running NYC show called If You Build It.
Mo Welch is a stand up comedian, actor, and writer living in Chicago. Her one woman show was accepted into the 2010 Boston Improv Comedy Festival and will make it’s Chicago debut at The Lincoln Lodge in March ’11. Mo hosts the popular comedy variety show The Mo Show in Chicago, and has played at clubs such as Zanies, Comedy Works and The Improv, and recently went on an east coast tour as part of the Hot D8 Campaign. She also appeared in the ‘I’m a PC’ campaign for Microsoft.
