New York Magazine’s annual “Best Of” came out this week, and South Brooklyn got several mentions. Olaf‘s Men’s Vintage on Court gets best men’s vintage, while Goose Barnacle, at 90 Atlantic, at Hicks, was named as best menswear shop (!). Modern Anthology in Dumbo, at 68 Jay St. near Water, by the creators of the DIY Network design series Man Caves, was named the best shop for gifts for men.
Interestingly, it named Paper Source, on Smith St. at Pacific, as the city’s best Paperie, with paper from India, Japan and elsewhere, not to mention it’s wide supply of all kinds of knick knacks for the house.
Court Street Grocers on Court near Nelson was named best General Store, owned by two art school grads who the magazine hail for “a rapacious appetite for quirk,” for their interesting gourmet selection of groceries.
Brooklyn Bridge Park, starting at the base of Atlantic Ave., to East River Park in Manhattan was named the best Riverfront Run. And the best weekend treat? Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain, on Henry and Sackett.
