On Wednesday, Court Street between 1st Place and 2nd Place collapsed while National Grid was working on a gas leak there, leading to a street closure and basements flooding along Court.
The line carrying water into one of the buildings on Court Street ruptured, causing several basements to fill with water, the 76th Precinct reported. As a result, Court between President and 2nd Place was closed for most of the day. One lane of traffic was re-opened at about 6 p.m., and will remain open until about 7 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20.
The street will close at 7 a.m., Jan. 20 for work by Con Edison and National Grid.
“It is unknown how long this work will take to complete,” the police said.
