8 p.m.: Get your pop star on at the stylish and casual Sugar Lounge, on Columbia Street. The bar, owned by a Boerum Hill couple, has a nice Tiki/Euro vibe (the owners hail from France and Germany) and features a nice outdoor garden that is beloved by the closet cigarette smokers and also features a pool table, dart board and bocce court.
Every Wednesday night the lounge warms up as serious crooners vie for first place in a karaoke contest, while the less competitive belt out tunes without a care. You can order food from Columbia Street restaurants to eat in. Celebrity spotting: While it’s a casual affair, Lady Gaga did make an appearance in late summer, though she was in disguise and did not sing.
Sadly, the Sugar Lounge stopped serving dinner this summer, though they do a brisk catering service to NY fashion world events and have a fine kitchen. The lounge recently debuted an espresso bar and brunch, and offer free Wi-Fi for all you freelancers out there.
