Whole Foods announced Monday that it’ll throw open the doors on its massive Gowanus outpost on Dec. 17. The store, the first Whole Foods in Brooklyn, is located at Third Street and Third Avenue on the banks of the Gowanus Canal.
The 56,000-square-foot brick organic grocery will feature a 20,000 square foot rooftop greenhouse in partnership with Gotham Greens, and a second floor indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant featuring craft beers.
The store will also feature a take-out venue of Yuji Ramen from noted ramen chef Yuji Hariguchi. Hariguchi operates a popular sit-down ramen spot at the Whole Foods at Houston and Bowery. Hariguchi is known for his mazemen – ramen dishes without broth, such as his bacon and egg ramen dish.
