LICH Newborn-Switch Case

By Lisa M. Collins

A New York Court of Appeals has decided not to hear the appeal of a Brooklyn woman who unsuccessfully sued LICH after a nurse in the baby ward of the Cobble Hill hospital switched newborns accidentally, and the woman’s baby breast-fed from another mom.

According to a story in Brooklyn Paper, the woman, Lynda Williams, said the hospital caused her “extreme emotional pain,” for the incident on May 28. The woman apparently was worried that the other mother may have had drugs or alcohol in her system, and was concerned for months that the baby she took home may not have been her own.
