Colonie's Bloody Mary has left a trail of loving fans.
Colonie, on Atlantic Avenue on the border of Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, makes a fine Bloody Mary, packing a punch and lots of flavor but refreshing and not at all “thick,” thanks to the clever addition of Clamato.
Tamer Hamawi, the owner and man behind many of the fanciful cocktails at Colonie, shares the recipe with South Brooklyn Post:
Colonie Bloody Mary
Tabasco
Worcestershire
Fresh Lemon Juice
Celery Salt
Fresh Ground Pepper
Fresh Jalapeno – finely diced
Cilantro
Horseradish – fresh grated
2 oz Vodka
Oloroso Sherry – just a dash
Top with Tomato Juice (or Clamato Juice for a Bloody Caesar)
Build over ice in tall glass. Garnish with olives/cherry tomatoes/celery/lemon
