Pok Pok Opening Wednesday

By Lisa M. Collins

New York Magazine’s Grub Street blog is already recommending what you should order at Pok Pok, and it hasn’t even opened yet. The Northern Thai restaurant, set to open on Columbia Street possibly on Wednesday, in the former location of the Pit Stop, is expected to cause a sensation and to be the first “destination” restaurant on the Columbia waterfront. Chef Andy Ricker hails from Portland, Oregon, where his Thai places are celebrated, and his Thai chicken wing joint in Lower East Side, Manhattan, is all the rage, with New York calling the wings the best in the city.

BON APPÉTIT Magazine did a multi-page spread on Ricker’s cooking in anticipation of his first NYC opening, and Food + Wine featured one of his beloved recipes.

You might want to get there while the getting’s good… the garden is huge but the dining area is small, and if it’s as good as his other places apparently are, there will be a crush for tables.
