Sat., Oct. 8: The Speaker’s Progress performed by SABAB Theatre, written and directed by Sulayman Al-Bassam. Tonight at BAM Harvey Theater.

“A groundbreaking exploration of the transformative events unfolding in today’s Arab world.” —Al Watan Daily Newspaper (Kuwait)

In an unnamed totalitarian state, all forms of theater have been banned. When a condemned 1960s production of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night is discovered, it becomes the focal point for political resistance blogs and underground social networks. A dark satire on the decades of hopelessness and political inertia that have fed recent revolts across the Arab region, The Speaker’s Progress is a daring theatrical metaphor for the mechanisms of dissent.

7:30 p.m., Run time: 1hr 30min, Season tickets start at $14, Full price tickets start at $20: purchase tickets.
