Yogawoman Film

By Alexandra Glorioso

Yoga Girl Painting
Painting by Nancy Spieling (http://nancyspielman.blogspot.com/)

Thurs., Aug. 25: Yogawoman is a groundbreaking feature film about the powerful impact of yoga on women’s health, fitness, emotional well-being, and personal growth.

Through rich personal stories, Yogawoman reveals how yoga has utterly transformed the lives of millions of overstimulated, overscheduled modern women. From the busy streets of Manhattan to the dusty slums of Kenya, Yogawoman explores how women’s embrace of yoga has eased health conditions such as breast cancer, infertility, heart disease, anxiety, and depression and served as a lifeline for women in prison, cancer and abuse survivors, and those struggling with body image or eating disorders. Reclaiming this ancient spiritual discipline from its traditionally male practitioners has resulted in a radical transformation of yoga as we know it.
