A new restaurant, Jolie Cantina, will be opening at 241 Smith Street at Douglass Street. As evidenced by signage in the window, what was long ago Porchetta will soon be a restaurant serving fare influenced by the cuisines of France and Mexico.
The new restaurant is a reinvention of Boerum Hill French restaurant Jolie, which closed recently after many years on Atlantic Avenue.
Many loved the food at Jolie, but it seemed to never get packed.
Permits on the windows indicate the new Jolie Cantina is waiting for a license to operate an open-air sidewalk cafe. We are imagining margaritas on Smith Street with windows open to a cafe serving cordon-bleu tacos… but we’ll let you know when we get some more firm details.
