Dina Assad learned gardening in Jerusalem, where she grew up, and where she still maintains a house and a large garden. A Palestinian American, Assad immigrated in 1965, to Carroll Gardens. Her home is on Union between Smith and Hoyt.
Assad’s son owns the Zaytoon’s restaurants, which feature some of her recipes.
