People, you might not want to read this. Not if you are on a diet. Because at the Van Horn Sandwich Shop, the garden is open. And that means, on a sunny day, there are several tables under a big tree just waiting for you to come sit down, order an ice cold beer and imbibe in a fried chicken sandwich that I swear to the heavens could stop traffic. It’s that good.
We visited the other night, and had not only the fried chicken sandwich, crunchy on the outside, outrageously juicy on the inside, served with home made pickles and purple vinegary slaw on a soft bun, but also the little fried cornbread hushpuppies, with house-made hot sauce. They may have to bottle the hot sauce. I’d buy some. Helped me resist the honey butter for the hush puppies.
