Thanks to a $4.58 billion city deficit, Mayor Mike Bloomberg announced Wednesday in his annual budget address that he will cut 4,666 teachers and shave another 1,500 positions through attrition (early retirement.) New York 1 is reporting the mayor is balancing the budget without raising taxes.
