Thurs., Jan. 20, 7 p.m.: Performance by the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. Nuyorican Poets Cafe was dubbed “the most integrated place on the planet” by Allen Ginsberg. The group has developed a one-of-a-kind partnership with the Brooklyn Museum, and is holding a six-month performance series through June 2011. The acclaimed Cafe features poetry and performance by artists traditionally underrepresented in mainstream media and culture. The first installment of the series will feature an evening of improvisational and freestyle poetry by muMs and Aurora, Carlos Andrés Gómez, and others. Free with Museum Admission. As seating is limited, advance ticket purchase for general admission is recommended at www.museumtix.com.
