Under the Aerial Tree: Suspended Cirque
galapagosartspace.com
Wed and Thurs, Dec. 22 – Dec. 23, 7 p.m.: Suspended Cirque  presents a holiday show, Under The Tree, at The Galapagos Art Space in Dumbo. Suspended Cirque is New York City’s only aerial theater company. The story begins under a tree, as toys come to life. The performance uses all parts of the venue as performance space – the stage, the aisles, the seats, and over the audience’s heads. While sipping cocktails, the audience literally gets swallowed by the show. This ability to perform all around the audience is unique to the Galapagos Art Space and makes for a unique and intimate New York experience.
This show is built for New Yorkers by New Yorkers… Barbie gets dizzy in a spinning hoop, a snarky candy cane explores what it means to be fresh, and the angel on the tree loses her wings.
“Suspended Cirque combined the bawdy fun of the holiday season with the true beauty in its meaning via ropes, trapezes, sturdy fabric and hoops – not to mention the Peter Pan aerialists whose own bodies manage to defy both gravity and the human form itself. And the childlike thrill these talented folks take in performance is both exhilarating and downright contagious.â€â€”Lauren Wissot, Theater Online
