Coming Soon: Arthur on Smith

By Erin Behan

There’s a sign up in the window of the old Bino and Po announcing it as the new space Arthur on Smith (as of March 2012) from chef Joe Isidori, lately of Southfork Kitchen in the Hamptons. According to an incredibly rambling blog post on the New York Times by partner Bruce Buschel, the Carroll Gardens restaurant will be a tribute to the chef’s father and will feature “grandma-to-table” fare.

The Permits and Licenses Committee from Community Board Six approved recommendations for Cobble Hill’s La Vera (to come in old Breuckelen space), Boerum Hill’s Jolie Cantina, Columbia Waterfront’s Pok Pok (an offshoot of the famed Portland Thai restaurant to come on Columbia Street), and the aforementioned Arthur on Smith. Events

There’s an Edible Brooklyn talk (in Manhattan) on what defines Brooklyn food on January 17, starting at 6:30 at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum. Reservations required.

Downtown Bar and Grill in Cobble Hill is celebrating Dogfish Head Week, Jan. 17 through 22, serving up 120 Minute IPA from 2008 and 2009, Burton Baton 2010 and Old School 2010, among seven others. Probably the best selection of Dogfish Head this side of Rehoboth Beach.
