Sat., Feb., 26, 8 p.m.: In a world swimming in singer/songwriters, it’s difficult to find something truly unique. The Pines attempts to rise above the rest, with a sound wavering between traditional acoustic/roots music, indie-rock and blues.
After meeting in a Mexican barrio in Arizona, David Huckfelt and Benson Ramsey, each from Iowa, began playing music together, forming The Pines. Committing to a musical career, they returned to their Midwestern roots and settled in Minneapolis, a music haven that launched careers including those of Bob Dylan, The Jayhawks and The Replacements.
