Sat., April 9, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Captain Imagine at BRIC Rotunda Gallery. Join BRIC Arts Media for an inspired adventure in art-making. At Family Day on April 9, kids and their adults will cut, shape and build a model of any boat imaginable with balsa wood and use Japanese paper for the sails. Markers, colored tape and an astounding variety of fun and beautiful collage materials will be provided to enhance your boats.
Artist Educator Angela Earley will lead visitors on this art-making adventure inspired by work in the current exhibition Water Water Every Where (March 17 to April 30). Water Water Every Whereincludes the work of seven artists, six based in New York, and one in Mexico City – Marie Lorenz, Mary Mattingly, Anne Percoco,Sreshta Rit Premnath, Joni Sternbach, Aleksei Stevens, and Kurt Hollander. Their work encompasses photography, video, installation, sculpture, work on paper, and sound projects, varied means that examine water’s inextricable presence in our lives.
This free, drop-in event is appropriate for all ages.
Family Days, a contemporary art program of BRIC Arts | Media | Bklyn, will run throughout the 2010–11 season at BRIC Rotunda Gallery in conjunction with each exhibition on view, with generous support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
