Sat., Jan. 1, 8 p.m.: If you want to hear a great rock-n-roll/soul/r&b band that will get you moving, check out the Detroit Cobras. I know this band from my years in the Motor City, and these ladies put on a great show. Playing with The Baxx Sisi’s and The Piggies, at The Bell House in the Gowanus.
Whether performing songs by Mickey Lee Lane, Art Neville, or The Oblivians, the Cobras always bring their unique Motor City energy to the table. Frontwoman Rachel Nagy’s voice is sexy smooth with just the right amount of lust, grit and heartache. It’s a perfect start to the new year.
